All About Us

Kathy RobertsonWelcome to the Memories To Love Website

My name is Kathy Robertson and I started Memories to Love on a home embroidery machine in 2004. I grew up loving to sew and do crafts so it just came natural to love embroidery and use my creativity and sewing skills.

I started out with simple designs and evolved into lighthouse designs done on bath towels. I sold several on EBay® and not until 2005 did I think about doing anything more with my embroidery machine.

I was approached by Kim Dozier (www.MKADesigns.com) who has published her children’s books to see if I was interested in doing embroidered tote bags with her logo for her reading customers. I thought about it and decided my home machine wouldn’t make it through 100 tote bags in the amount of time she needed them thus the necessity for a commercial embroidery machine and the will to do something I loved to do.

I went to the Spring N.E.A.C.A. (www.neaca.org) craft show with Kim to personalize her bags on the spot while the customers shopped at the booths. After the tote bags, I was left with creativity time.

I did more towels on EBay®, started working with baby items and in the Fall of 2006 I went to my first N.E.A.C.A. craft show as a vendor. I brought my embroidery machine and computer to the show and personalized items as the customers shopped at the show. I couldn’t have made it without my father Ron Birkhead taking orders and cleaning items as they came off of the machine and I can’t thank my friend Diane McBroon enough for spending her time to help me set up before the show started.

I made new customers and contacts, which gave me an opportunity to participate in a once a month Baby’s R’ Us® fair in Huntsville, AL where vendors display and sell their items for those who attend the fair. Once again, I had the opportunity to bring my machine for 4 hours and personalize baby items with my father’s help right beside me.

In 2007, I participated in Homespun held at Athens Bible School and more N.E.A.C.A. craft shows. My last craft show I recruited my mother Willie Birkhead in addition to my father to help take orders freeing up my time to work the computer and run the embroidery machine.

This brings me to my latest adventures of more craft shows and of having my father create this website. I am always looking for new ideas and welcome any comments for new products you might be interested in seeing on the website. At present, I have many more items and designs I plan on adding to the website. Email me if you have any questions and thanks for visiting Memories to Love.
